9/12/2024 – Today we welcomed the talented Jess Hopcroft from Dhiiyaan art, the successful candidate from our EOI callout for a First Nations artwork for FluTracking Australia. Jess is an Aboriginal artist whose work is deeply inspired by her culture, community and the stories of her people. Through vibrant colours and meaningful symbols, Jess aims to share the beauty of her culture and its powerful stories. Jess presented some of the team with a beautiful artwork which will be displayed in the future alongside FluTracking First Nations correspondence. Please keep an eye out! 20 Years of FluTracking: Celebrating Two Decades of Data
25/11/2025 – Last week, the FluTracking team celebrated an exciting milestone: 20 years of data collection in Australia! Since launching in 2006, FluTracking has grown into one of Australia’s largest community-based health surveillance systems, thanks to the ongoing support of our dedicated participants. To mark the occasion, the team gathered for a celebration with the Hunter New England Health Protection staff, where we shared morning tea and funny anecdotes. It was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on how far FluTracking has come and acknowledge the people, partners, and participants who have contributed to its success. Over two decades, FluTracking has helped track seasonal trends to guide public health responses and encourage Australians to contribute to citizen science from their own homes.
